Our story is closely connected with one of Leicestershire’s best-loved independent breweries.
Founded by Baz Parish in 1983, Parish Brewery has been producing traditional, award-winning cask ales for more than 40 years. Today, the brewery operates from its historic 400-year-old building here in Burrough on the Hill, right beside The Stag & Hounds.
Its brewing history even reached the Guinness Book of Records. In 1997, Baz’s Super Brew — an extraordinary 23% ABV — was recognised as the strongest beer in the world. Its famous descendant, Baz’s Bonce Blower, is still brewed today at a formidable 12%, alongside a characterful range of traditional Parish ales.
As The Stag & Hounds begins its next chapter, this special relationship will remain firmly at its heart. Parish Brewery beers will continue to have a proud place behind our bar, and we look forward to working closely with the brewery, supporting its heritage and sharing its wonderful local ales with our customers.
We also plan to offer brewery experiences beginning and ending at The Stag & Hounds — giving visitors the opportunity to discover how these celebrated beers are made before returning to the pub to enjoy a well-earned pint.
